Subject: Software packages IP: Logged
Message: We are looking to upgrade our software. We need to track service calls, inventory, billing, parts orders and service contracts. We do both cost per copy as well as standard service contracts. Some customers also get "special" pricing. We may even consider putting in payroll.We have 4 techs, 2 salesmen and 3 Support staff Any suggestions?

all the other suck or cost too much or both
Think Package is the problem too much extra BS in the so called Industry software, this means all sort of input time and upkeep to get data no one has a need for. but if you do not do the input the software does not work.
Software needs to be written with the KISS in mind
The area I see the MOST important is keeping track of A/R and most do a piss poor job it,
Plus programs combined together so service people and sales people are all doing input really can screw up your A/R.
Last Package I purchase cost low number to buy $3500.00, but cost me $40,000.00 staff input and then the A/R was so screwed up we ended up with errors and lost about 20% of the money people owed us.
Went back to my OLD and I mean OLD software that beat all the programs I have tried - and that is up-wards of 20 different ones.
Service software and A/R A/P software should all be kept separate
