Subject: cartridge recycling? IP: Logged
Message: What are you guys doing with your empty cartridges? I hate throwing them in the trash & I pick them up when I deliver new product. Customers like the 'green' attitude. I have also quit refilling so don't need them for that anymore. I had a vendor who was buying virgin cores, but has now stopped due to high shipping cost & the older cartridges I was getting. They now advertise as well as CW a new 99% landfill free policy but I have to put out the bucks to package it at $50 plus for pallet boxes, and then the hassle of moving them around. They would pay for shipping. CW's outfit acknowledges our e-mails & claim to send small boxes but its been months and havn't recieved them. I've got over 600 empties virgin & compatibles, HP, samsung & others, in my way. I'ved recycled the boxes locally. I've considered sending them all to HP using their pre-paid UPS label they put in their boxes & hope they recycle them properly. In fact I've sent them a hundred or so over the past few months. If its plastic, it goes in the box. I'm an equal opportunity recycler. Is there a better alternative? Just trying to do the GREEN thing without putting out my hard earned green. Please e-mail me your contacts.

allfax
Free samsung for their toners
All fax still buy some and free shipping over 15 at time.
Many people take them to local office depot for small credit
HP and other with OEM label in box I send with that,. I have been known to throw a few non-HP in bigger box and use HP free shipping recycle label for all.
but I still toss some in the trash because time is money and I am paying too much in taxes especially payroll taxes. Seems few of my employees want to do the cleaning and such stuff., of course it is the bosses job to box up old toners, sweep the floors and clean the bathrooms.
good luck

Message: Office Depot and Staples will take them. They will give you a $3.00 credit and you are allowed 10 per month. So that's $30.00 per month. But if you have hundreds you'll never get ride of them. How many employee's do you have. Have all of them get a Staples card and have them take 10 a month there. I hate dumping them in the land fill.

Message: My bro-in-law has a stand alone toner store, nothing like a little family competition!!! He has 6 accounts at Staples & Office Depot so returns all his empties there. They give him credit towards purchases there. So far he has got a computer, printers for resale, movie projection device ETC...... Our cartridge provider prices are with an empty so I save OEM's for other credits.

Message: Some towns collect emties at their schools, town halls, office supply stores, etc. of which the school system recieves something like $3 to $5 for each collected. They even take empy inks as well. Check your town or one local to you that offers this.
Good Luck!

Message: at staples, if you spend like a grand in a year, they send you the premier rewards card that allows you to give them 20 empties per month. now they were giving 3 dollars per, but i think july 1st it went to 2 dollars. they send or email you the rewards for future purchases. i just dumped off 14 on june 30th to make my 20. that way your office supplies are free. i also take all test copies now from customers and use the back sides in the fax and unimportant copies. only new for invoices and proposals. and that is also test paper. at 5 to 7 dollars a ream, it also adds up. oh, and even if you are over the max at staples, they will still take them. usually the reman places dont pay enough to make it worth while if you have to pay shipping and now they want to buy hundreds or more of one type. but good to keep them out of the trash. some city's have a designated trash barrel that is for recycling at your house. a lawn clippings barrel, a trash barrel and a recycle barrel. if not, ask your city why not. i put small copiers and the like in there. usually being taken out by collectors before trash day. jim

Then you haven't been enlightened to what 'green' really means. Its 20% legit, and 80% Bullsh*t.
And you probably aren't going to like it, but there is a pretty good chance that for every 2 cores you send back, at least one will end up in a landfill anyway. It simply isn't cost-effective to recycle many things- especially plastic.

Message: Darren is correct . Most schools are collecting these to supplement getting screwed by Conan the govenator (California). If you are trying to create more cartridge biz this has been good for us . Customers love to know something they would throw out is helping the local economy. It is a win win .
I know the schools got thousands for our cores.
Great advertising.
