Subject: need good supplier- compatible cartridges IP: Logged
Message: I am looking for a new supplier for compatible toner cartridges. The supplier I have been using has been having too many defective cartridges. I use mostly samsung fax and HP printer cartridges. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Message: Join the club. I have tried MANY different vendors
and they all seem to have a high defective cartridge
rate. All you can hope for is a company that stands
behind their units but that doesn't help the way
your customer will see things. I try and use OEM
when possible.

Message: look at the banner ad for Precision Roller
they are pretty good in the Reman area
BUT
I would not do Samsung remans
I do some my self for very special circumstance
but I usually go OEM new
since there are no drums, PCR rollers etc for the Samsung, they are just refills
The HPs however are full rebuilds with anything needed and so are many others like Lexmark etc.

Message: Clickman - not sure where you're getting your info but there are plenty of Sammy rebuilds with new drums and PCR's. The parts may not be as widely available as HP but they are out there. As for PR we have had numerous defects with there Sammy ctgs and color remans
Pearl- we use Ultimate Image and have a very, very low defect rate on HP and Samsung. Email me and I'll send you contact info.
Word to the wise: Most so-called OEM ctgs out there are really remans themselves. Albeit good quality, but nevertheless they are remans

Message: you are correct DT
I was generalizing
But I see so many bad Samsung Remans - I went back OEM
As you said Samsung is not getting the R&D and trouble shooting HP gets.
AS you said READ the NEW OEM toner and it says may contain recycled products
Some of us test and try stuff and live with the bad along with the good, but someone asking general question like Pearl Diver requires and assumption he does not want to trail and error to find what works and what does not.
I have had many good remans many places.
But to be blunt Was mostly just pushing the banner ad company to be a good minion

Message: ha ha...I got ya, put a good word in for PR
As I mentioned we haven't had the best results with their Sammy stuff [sorry PR], but UI's stuff has been great, although they are very limited in what Sammy stuff they carry. UI's stance is to only offer stuff they can do well.
Carrying OEM certainly is good, the problem is warranty service. A lot of vendors will refer you back to the mfr for warranty on an OEM product and that is where it gets sticky. Such as HP, they will charge you $35 by cc to talk to a rep about a bad ctg if the printer is out of warranty. And if you're not an authorized dealer for a particular brand, it's tough getting any assistance. You have to basically pretend to be an end user and that's about all the help you'll get anyway.

Message: yep on the warranty
I do not sell OEM HP at all
Samsung warranty good with James at Ikop if ever bad toner,, not happened yet OEM
PR has been good,
as you I Use UI Summit what ever the name for components at times
Static Control is GREAT too
Densi has been good too for both components and already Remans
They are real good on the warranty - exchange
I operate on a LESS IS MORE
and time and labor is more costly than toners and supplies
One rash of bad toners eats all the money I saved
I find they best working and stick with it.
BUT I will say PR prices on Remans (not samsung) are good and not had but one bad one is many years and instant replacement.
Like I said Pearl driver wants easy answer and you and I speak from the deep end of the lake of experience.

Message: Thanks for all the good advice. This gives me several vendors to look into. I realize that each vendor has different strengths and weaknesses. Quality, price, as well as support, is important. It saves a LOT of time and money to learn from others what works, and what doesn't.
Thanks again,

Message: Desert Tech told me about Ulitimate Image and they are pretty good. 1 or 2 percent fail rate at most.
BUT. you call them with a problem and they will send a cartridge right out with no questions asked and you don't have to wait for a return # or anything. They made it very easy on returns. And I have had New HP carts go bad.

Message: Ditto that Bill......on the occasional bad one UI never hedges or delays. Excellent customer service. Even on issues where customer is just nit-picking, UI stands by their warranty. With service like that I can tolerate an occasional bad cartridge or two. UI will also put labels with your company's name and logo on the cartridges and boxes at no charge. Try getting that from anyone else

Message: Is there a particular reason that you do not do your own in-house? The profit margin is MUCH better and your percentage of defects is directly proportional to your technical ability and attention to detail. I have been rebuilding for about 10yrs now using Static Control components (Oasis before that) and can count on one hand the defects in that amount of time. Of course, I don't rebuild the crap cores that I get back from customers who no longer trust the drill-and-fill outfits that they got them from. Splitting the core and using the cheapest components is a sure fire path to poor service. I've seen many crappy outfits out there with a business model of one-offs that equates to headaches on our part as the vendor....namely Rhino, Elite, Quill, Viking...the list goes on. One of the better ones IMO is Westpoint, but they are relatively pricey (considering that I know how much it costs to rebuild any given cart) and still have defects. Do them in-house and enjoy higher profits and a better customer relationship.

Message: Hi Steve. I sell about 30 carts a month. Way to many models for me to do in house. If it was only one or 2 maybe I would. Not worth the hassle for that small amount. And Ultimate Image is made in the U.S.A.
From Chandler, AZ.
I say the hell with the states that want to boycott Az. I'm giving them as much business as I can.
