Message: Anyone know of a good quality answering machine that doesn't sound like you're talking through a pillow into a cardboard box? I need something that will record and play a clear outgoing message

Message: If this is for your business why not go with the service offerd by the phone company? I think it you have the voicemail you get free call forwarding! And you can check your messages from your cell at anytime. It is just what I do not saying it is the best solution.

Message: Not to mention, if they have unified messaging, you can get fax to email service, and receive your voicemails in your email.

Message: The machines are lot more friendly than push 1 to leave a message
but cost is reason not use phone company service
Yep JRCS I do that too at times
but not 24-7
and you can retrieve the message from remote when ever you like. a $25.00 answer machine over 10 years beats a $25.00 monthly fee.
Those people who must have the most high tech things has driven people to broke...(no wonder people are loosing thier homes)
I know most of you do better than me $$$$ but I do not throw money nor time away. most people spend most of their money $2.00 at a time.
I do not text nor have Internet on my cell phone either... and no web page.... and I am over worked and turn down repairs and sales all the time.
It is not how much you make that counts, it is how much you spend that make the difference.

Message: the old high end tape machines with a duel tape were nice. the ones with the full size cassette tape. might find one on ebay, but the belts will probably need replacement. i had the same problem with all the digitals. i couldn't understand the callers message. i had a customer that had one that worked pretty nicely. he has the Panasonic KX-TM150B. it is a digital but works good. easy to use. they dont sell them new anymore but i got mine on ebay for a good price. it isnt perfect but for the home line its ok. for business i use an answering service. its runs me over a hundread a month depending on how many calls i get but way back when i started using that type service my business went up 30%. they like live people now. then you get a text of the message. i have a company that is on the other side of the country but with their 800 forward # the person never knows. rings as fast as if i call across the street. but check out the companies first. i have had some that started ok, then went to sh#t in short order. i found this place and been with them for years. i could forward to my cell instead, but what happens when you walk into the customer, "hi i am here to" ring, ring, now what? this way you can handle your business and call back after you have a minute. just dont wait to long or they call the next place. Message: I remember my 80's answering machine we had at the house...it was a COBRA. I remember going to BEST (not BEST BUY - just BEST) to get it. Same place we got the new tech 4-head VCR. We got the COBRA because they made good CB radios too. It has a very special tone generator box you would put up to another phone and it would replay messages. You ask why, its because back then people still had rotary phones and the tech wasn't good enough to process a tone PIN to retrieve messages.
I still have the COBRA tone generator. Takes two 2016 batteries, and it annoys the heck out of cats and dogs.
That answering machine was $49.95, made in the USA, used two micro tapes, and still works to this day!
DT you can buy this off me for $150. Heckuva deal! I'll even throw in two new tapes.

Message: Personally I'd rather check the ans. machine every hour or two rather than get bothered while driving (which I won't answer) or busy elsewhere. They'e only machines; they can wait. We're not EMTs.
In the 70s, company I worked for supplied all techs with beeprs. About $45 a month per tech and all they did was beep. You called the office to find out why. No message or anything and you assumed it was the office calling because nooone else would. The only ones that had them at the time was Doctors and copier techs!!!!

Message: I use youmail.com It is free and you can personalize your message to the customer. Say Debbie from ACME company calls you can record a message that says Hi Debbie I can’t take your call but will call you back shortly. Also you can set up ditch mail for the unwanted calls. The best part is I can have a little fun with the wife when she calls by setting up a funny song like me so horny and only she hears it. They also have prerecorded professional messages you can use. I have it set up so I get an email and text message. Standard text messaging applies. Check it out.
