Subject: Sharp a202 with dot on display IP: Logged
Message: I have no diagnostic skill on cash registers and the
techs for them are none existent in my town. I
would like any help in diagnosing the problem of a
non-responding unit that displays four dashes and
three dots upon powering up. Thanks, Sam

Message: Sam, these units are "Staples" specials. You need to remove the batteries and let it set for a full hour unplugged then turn key to program and plug in and it should pop up. It should beep three times and then come up with three zeros and you will have to reprogram and replace with fresh batteries. If it does not you have a hardware problem. These units sold for $200 new and parts are expensive so I would scrap the unit and replace. Good luck,Dave
