Message: This is a strange one. Came in behind another tech. It had been creasing then jamming. Had to fix the sep. claw lift gate on the fuser. Still creasing... Cleaned Timing/registration rollers, checked transfer belts (they moved) but didn't take the time to see if one of the belts is slipping. Could this cause an INTERMITTENT (severe) creasing. The copies are either perfect or severely creased (wrinkled). Spent about three hours cleaning and repairing without getting rid of the problem. ALSO... the upper fuser roller has a bit of build up on it as if the cleaning web had not been working. When I opened up the cleaning assy. it was a new roller that had not even been started. I think it was installed wrong and did not function. Like I said... this was a strange one.
Great customers... need to know if this model is worth keeping alive with 460,000 copies on it.
Thanx as always... Pete

Message: Sounds like the entrance plate on the fuser is coated with toner. The most critical part is the edge. I usually chip off the toner on the very edge with a file, then clean the plate with d-ink/belt cleaner. The plate is coated so you should avoid using any abrasives. The hotter you can make the plate, the easier it will be to clean.

Message: Ditto what Marc said or one of the pressure springs is broken.
If the unit has been properly maintained it's not a bad box. I've seen better and I've seen worse.

Message: Is the plate adjustable?... No question about the dirty plate... I usually spot that and just failed to clean it this time. Will git-er-dun!
Also... why did they update the pickers? Precision Roller has them at $22.95 each!!???

Message: No the plate is not adjustable, it fits in slots cut into the front and back frames.
Panasonic came out with a new picker finger with the 80 series, then a few months later they discontinued the 77 series pickers. I imagine too many were using the 77 series in the 80 series, and either it was causing issues, or they weren't making enough money.
Oh ya and forgot to add on the first post, my opinion of the 3510. I like the box a lot, well if it's been maintained properly. There were lots of mods that came out after the 10 series. The 8035 is virtually the same machine with all the bugs worked out (4th generation). If it was maintained well, you should have some clues, like the ADF feed in plate, the one that covers the sep roller. if it is black, then it was upgraded.
If you replace the cleaning blade and wires every 120k copies, and drum, developer, toner support, (empty waste toner), every 240k, then it should be relatively trouble free. Of course all other parts replace as needed.

Message: Thanx Mark!
I went out and cleaned the guide and it worked perfectly. I had to "form" the cleaning web tension holder so the thing wouldn't free wheel. That seemed to enable the web to remain taut. The customer was ecstatic... they're mortgage financiers... not a lot of happy things happening for them these days... I only charged them $75.00 for three hours. I figure down the road it may come back... good solid conservative Arizonans too!
Thanx again... Pete
