Subject: Ricoh FT5832 E1 Code IP: Logged
Message: I was given this copier and told it worked. It was filthy and copies were dark, almost black. After getting manuals I cleaned the optics (mirrors, sensors, glass, lamp, rails). I got several nice copies. I then put on the back and side covers. When I turned it on I got the wait light for several seconds, then E-1. Now the wait light flashes and it goes straight to E-1. I can't find a E-1 in the list of errors.
Any help would be appreciated.
How do I get into service program mode?
Is there some initialization I need to do?

Message: If I remeber it right, you have to press the "." sign and another number will be displayed. ex: 01,then the Error is 101.
You can reset it by 5810.

Message: Typically E-1 on older Ricohs is Exposure lamp/fuse. No reset just fix problem. hth

Message: Thanks Jerry and Tonerdude for the replies.
I pushed the '.' and got 01, so the error was E101 - Exposure lamp on too long.
I checked the lamp circuit and sure enough the lamp wasn't making contact. I failed to notice the longer contact pin and put it in backwards after cleaning. It had worked loose.
I also had to do the 5-810 reset.
I have copies again!
Thank-you,
Ron
