I can't believe I'm stumped on this. You can feed from bypass tray with no issues. When feeding from paper tray it shuts down with the paper hanging out of the fuser and says recording paper jam. I/ve changed the feed tires and the one way bearing on the transport turn roller. You can feed singles or doubles from the paper tray all day long. No problem. Try to do more than three or four copies from the tray...missfeed with the paper hanging out the fuser and one in the turn guide. There is no jam. Just a miss feed shut down. What am I missing? I've cleaned everything I can think of. There ain't nothing there. Has anyone run into this before?

If the machine has a lot of clicks you may have a
worn down regsensor flag...easy fix. Pull the
toner cartridge out and look at the metal flap
that pushes the paper down on the reg sensor as it
comes out of the turn. Push down on it in the
middle bending it ever so slightly so that it puts
more pressure on the paper thereby pushing the reg
sensor flag more reliably. Problem solved with no
tools. Now run a few Roller Cleaning cycles
because jams in the fuser will leave toner build
up in the fuser which can easily lead to the death
of the machine when the user stabs it with a
letter opener. Good luck -Cope

It turned out to be the fuser assy. Swapped it with another machine and the problem went away. I can't explain it, the fuser works fine in another copier, but not in that one. I'd really like an explanation for this one!

Possibly fuser film drag. If the other machine it
swapped into had a lower cpm (there were different
fusers but the only difference was spring tension)
it could be dragging at higher speeds and temps.
Just a guess. congrats now sell em a toner. -Cope
