I got the machine working correctly, but I am still at a loss as to what happened. Customer called and said that job status light was flashing. To make a long story somewhat short, turns out there are several job pending in the queue with the top one suspended awaiting correct sized paper. The suspended one and all the rest indicated LT-R.

None of the trays had LT-R, but the LCF did have LT. I thought it was odd that the machine did not just rotate the image and print it out on the available LT, but it wouldn't. I could not change the paper size in the upper trays to LT-R because the options were grayed out. So I had to do this in 08 mode. Still, the job would not print.

Ok, so I'm thinking delete the job. Well, the option to delete was grayed out in the control panel and in TopAcess as well. So deleting it was out of the question.

I ended up reformatting the HDD in order to get rid of the jobs, and after that everything worked fine. Faxes coming in and printing normally.

This whole thing is messing with my mind because I just don't know what happened to begin with.

Update the firmware this fixes everything!!!

I have seen this when some one turned auto rotate off in service mode. Then the job sits there until the bypass is loaded with the correct paper and weight. Don't ask why but they do it.

Ha ha, yep, the ol' universal fix. That's funny to me because no matter what the issue is, when you call tech support they ALWAYS say update the firmware and see what happens! Doh!!

But really, not even LT-R in the bypass worked. I had similar problems in the past where the machine was looking for A4-R and all I had to do was turn the machine off, pull all the drawers out, turn the machine on and configure one of the drawers for A4-R. After the errant job would print I would go into test mode and set it up to print A4 on LT. Unfortunately this twilight zone reject wanted to act like it was stuck in another dimension somewhere. What I really am thinking happened was with ECM turned off some corrupted data hung the rascal up. I can't really come to any other logical conclusions. I'm just lucky I got out of there with things back to normal.

I don't think the firmware is the answer. I have seen it happen to new machines in the past. I beleive that something that is to be printed just gets corrupted and the machine looks for a different size tray. I have set some machines to A-4 size no more issues. It is a stumper.

Just curious, could you have the customer delete print job from their computer station to correct problem? I've seen these boxes do some strange things with no explaination.

Isn't that weird that they won't let you delete the jobs in order to get past it? I've had the customers be SO CONFUSED all the time, sometimes so much so that I've had to GO THERE and unplug the paper drawers to get that job out of there.

YES, they will grey out the DRAWER selection when a job is in progress. Isn't that ridiculous? I tend to agree with Spock, reformat the drive. I've had a few lately with drives I've replaced start getting squirrely drive-related errors as well. Weird, huh?

I just had the very same thing happen. In my case the customer had 8.5 x 11R in BOTH drawers AND the bypass and the software was trying to print to letter. Changing paper orientation did not work but I was simply able to purge the pending jobs by canceling them. A hard drive format seems a little extreme in this case...but hey, I wasn't there! :)))
