Message: Customer called saying at first the machine was paper jamming constantly but now it acts like it's dead. When we got there and turned the machine on it kind of clicks and then shuts off and keeps repeating that symptom. The paper jam issue is because the UFR gear is toast along with the fuser drive gear on the machine. The other problem acts like a power supply problem, the clicking noise is the cartridge drive motor trying to move unsuccessfully. You can spin it easily by hand but it acts like it doesn't have enough voltage. Has anyone experienced this on this model. We hate to order a power supply in the hope that it will solve the trouble. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: the dead printer thing sounds like a smps to me -- replaced a couple of them, one warranty one not.i never had any issues that occured at the same time as the power supply on that model. had a 5530 recently that acted more like the symptoms you describe- clicking noise and faxes sometimes not being sent - that turned out to be a smps also. with the panels removed you could get your ear right up to the board and it was clicking and causing something on the hvps to click also- replaced smps all went away. got them from witt. tuey
