Subject: LJ 4000 transfer roller issue IP: Logged
Message: The last few months I've been having trouble when replacing transfer rollers on some of the LJ 4000s. The posts that keep the transfer roller in place break off (old age, I guess) and there seems to be no easy fix since the posts are part of the plastic frame. I'm curious to know if more of you are having this problem and if someone maybe has an easy fix.
TIA.

Message: Seen this a few times with no fix, just let the roller lie in place, doesn't seem to present a problem unless customer gets agressive removing jam. Saw the same post a while back with no resolve that I can remember. Good input on this problem anyone???

Message: No replacement. I have been in the business for years and never broke one. Just have to be careful.

Message: Thanks for all your replies so far. Re Rod B's comment about being careful; after this happened once or twice I was very careful to remove the transfer rollers and always use the little blue hook that comes with the roller. I make sure to pull out straight, but in many cases the posts still break, both on the left side and on the right side.

Message: I've had to replace the RG5-2643 Paper Feed Guide to fix this problem. Good amount of work. Instructions are in the 4100 manual, not the 4000. Have fun.

Message: I've broken a couple, I quit changing them with maint kits just because replacing the feed assm is such a pain.

Message: Thank you all for your replies. After some additional searching I found one "fix"; this is a guy's reply to changing the paper feed part:
Nah, man, that's too much work.
I drilled a small hole in the plastic and used a part of a straightened paper clip to bridge across the broken part and apply downward pressure against the spring.
The roller is now at the correct height and the printing is perfect.
