Oki fax machines
using 400e drums
Oki
fax machines using 400e drums will jam when the fuser becomes loose from the sub-assembly.
Be sure to check and tighten the four screws that hold the fuser down. If
screws strip out, replace with slightly larger diameter. screw or replace sub-base
assembly.
Okifax 1000
I had a problem with the paper tray never staying in place and
found that the guild that held the tray in place had got very loose. fast fix is
to take a small strip of thin cork the same stuff used in the paper tray for
feeding first remove the toner cart and turn fax on it side there you will see the guilds
and gluethe cork to the left side of the guild on the fax and away you go.
Okifax 1000 - Paper
Jams
I
had a machine that had erratic paper jams out of the cassette. The paper wasn't being
picked up by the feed roller. On the end of the shaft of the cassette pick up roller is 2
gears with one way bearings inside them. You have to clean them up, and then take a fine
grit sandpaper or Emory board and scuff up the shafts. That will take care of it!

Paper Jamming
Paper jamming half way through the exit assembly is usually the upper fuser assembly
coming apart. The gear on the upper fuser roller becomes loose or the whole roller
assembly is moving too much from side to side. The fuser gear stops meshing with the exit
rollers. The solution is to replace the upper fuser unit.
Okifax 2350, 5300,5600
Using aux. paper tray jamming will occur if the hopper roller in the aux. paper tray is
worn. Premature wearing will happen if the
paper is not secured properly by the adjustable slid positioner in the tray. Place a screw through the slid to keep it from
moving.
Okidata OL400e LED Page Printer
If you get a loud moaning sound when the printer picks up the paper from the cassette. Replace the Paper Separator P# 53350001 and install Anti-Vibration Spring P# 50926901

CODE 4
Error code 4: fuser temp error (usually low)."Fusing Contacts" are spring plates
leading from bottom of AC PSU to fusing lamp contacts. Arcing occurs at both ends,
especially at top end (@ F-lamp contacts) due to openning unit without turning off power
first. Frequently the fusing lamp is on when the cover is openned causing the arcing. Part
# for contact is 53057901. Burnish the contacts @ AC PSU and lamp contacts. May want to
use LC-10 from ATS to help prevent reoccurrence. Place a warning label by jam removal
button to first turn off power. Procedure to replace these is lenthy and entailed. Be
especially careful when near sensor actuator.

SMUDGES
Problem: Smudges on the first fax or copy but not on sucessive prints. Solution: Change
the cleaning blade. It's cheap (@$3-$5 from a number of scources), and easy. Most will try
to sell a new IU, so you can get $20 or so plus your labor time and look like a hero.
2200
JAMS
Okifax 2200 is subject to intermittent paper jams because the motherboard does not supply
adequate torque to the receive paper drive train. Replace the motherboard (yeah, right!).
Hard to believe, but true.
JAMS
I was reading your tech tips for the Okifax 2200 and found a slight discrepancy regarding
the replacement of the main board. Oki recommends and has a field replacement
procedure that replaces the DFPU board instead.
